Teach. Learn. Travel Jamaica, LLC is a travel concierge service that is committed to crafting cultural experiences that connect travelers to Jamaica through thoughtfully curated and immersive activities, excursions, writing retreats and workshops.
Our customized approach to travel is built upon pillars of enrichment, inclusion, accessibility and fellowship. We aspire to upend the existing paradigm of travel and reinvent it into a holistic exploration framework crafted of authentic cultural, spiritual and educational experiences that essentially sow into the local Jamaican economy.
We strive to serve as a conduit to learning and empowerment by aligning our overarching vision of inclusivity with our philanthropic values in an effort to ultimately highlight the feasibility of accessible and immersive travel to everyone, despite their socioeconomic status.
Meet The Founder
Dr. Nicole Files-Thompson, an Associate Professor in the Department of Mass Communications at Lincoln University and Fulbright Alum, is not only an expert in all things Jamaica, but Nicole’s scholarly and leadership background has laid the foundation for the development of Teach. Learn. Jamaica, LLC.
Since then, Dr. Files-Thompson has developed and taught 25 courses across the communications discipline, as well as delivered numerous lectures and conference presentations throughout her career. A tenured professor and former Chair, Dr. Files-Thompson is active on the scholarly community, has several publications, serves on the editorial board of the Journal of International and Intercultural communication, and has held leadership positions in several professional associations - but it doesn’t stop there. Nicole has been a Fulbright scholar, delivered several keynote addresses, as well as produced and executed a faculty-led study abroad for 18 students across the island of Jamaica.
Nicole is dedicated to HBCU education, empowering marginalized identities and spreading knowledge about her research and her journey to living free as a Black woman. Her passion for undergraduate research, study abroad and her students of color; combined with her special interest of using her knowledge and experiences to empower people and ultimately reveal their capabilities, has laid the pathway for the inception of Teach. Learn. Travel Jamaica, LLC. Nicole believes that by offering immersive travel experiences that explore Jamaican tourism and culture, Teach. Learn. Travel. Jamaica LLC will inspire people to explore, learn, give and grow.
